Adventure Itinerary

  • Arrival in Baltra airport, assistance will be waiting for you to go to Puerto Ayora (Santa Cruz), we will take a public transportation named Lobitos which will head to the “Canal de Itabaca, here we will take a ferry to cross to the other side (5 minutes). Upon arrival, our transportation will be waiting for you to go to Puerto Ayora.
  • Transfer from Santa Cruz to Isabela Island in a public speed boat, the trip will take about. 2.5 hours approximately.
  • Arrival at the magnificent village of Puerto Villamil, where our transport will be waiting for us to be transferred to the hotel to check in. Time to rest or walk through the island.

  • Breakfast. Pick you up from the hotel to begin the tour to Wall of Tears, a historical site located 5km west from Puerto Villamil on Isabela Island. The wall is 25 meters tall and was constructed by the prisoners of a penal colony established on Isabela Island during 1945 to 1959. The site’s appropriate name has to do with the sweat and tears that went into the wall’s construction, working all day in the hot sun, walking long distances, carrying heavy volcanic rocks, and being severely punished, with many prisoners dying. The saying went “Here the strong cry and the weak die.”
  • There is a coral beach where many iguanas come to mate and nest, something incredible is the Mirador whose name is “Cerro Orchilla”, where after climbing some stairs, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the island.
  • Our last visit will be to the Arnaldo Tupiza Giant Tortoise Breeding Center where you will be able to observe tortoises of all ages and sizes. 
  • We will also learn about the breeding and farming of giant tortoises and see all the work that is being done to help recover the wild populations of these species. Return to the hotel.

  • Breakfast. Today we go by car until we reach the mountainsides of the Sierra Negra Volcano. This volcano is considered as one of the oldest of Isabela. We will walk about 40 minutes and then continue our way our way on foot until the crater of the volcano. With a little bit of luck, we will be able to see the sparrow hawk of the Galapagos Islands. We will get to know the geology of the Sierra Negra Volcano. Most of this island was formed by AA lava. After a Box-Lunch. Return to the hotel.

  • Breakfast at hotel. Prepare yourself for one of the best days of this trip! Our morning will start visiting The Tunnels.

  • After sailing for 45 minutes from Puerto Villamil, we will reach Cape Rosa on the western side of the island. This is one of the most beautiful and amazing places nature has bestowed upon humankind. Here we can walk over the connected lava tunnels surrounded by the crystal sea waters. From the surface, you will be able to see dozens of sea turtles, penguins and rays. You can also snorkel or simply swim along this rich marine fauna. As we sail to and from  Isabela, we might be able to see manta rays of different sizes, a truly unique experience. And if it is their mating season, we will watch them floating upside-down on the surface, waiting to have their pictures taken. Box lunch on board. Back to Isabela.

  • Box breakfast. The guide will pick you up from the hotel to head to the pier and take the public speed boat to Santa Cruz, the sailing takes 2.5 hours approximately.
  • Upon arrival, a guide will be waiting for you to the pier to begin the visit to Charles Darwin Station.
  • CHARLES DARWIN STATION
  • Our first visit will be to the Charles Darwin Station where you will learn about the preservation and conservancy of the Galapagos islands. Check in at hotel.
  • BAY TOUR * Shared service.
    In the afternoon, the visit begins at La Loberia Islet, named after the colony of sea lions that live there, the snorkeling activity allows you to observe a variety of fish species, you can also swim with the sea lions. Punta Estrada is the second ideal place to visit to observe terns, blue-footed boobies, frigate birds, etc. Canal de Tintoreras, accessed by walking along the channel, where whitetip sharks (Tintoreras) are found, accompanied by a spectacular view of the entire island. Playa de los Perros, named for the species of crab dog found in the place, is seen iguana nests and colonies of them with a great view of the bay. Finally, Las Grietas are gigantic walls resulting from lava formations crossed by an arm of brackish water, a perfect place for snorkeling activities.

  • Breakfast. We will depart from our offices in a private taxi to Highland View, where you will enjoy the landscape from its panoramic viewpoint and its swing. Then, you will explore the trails inside and outside the crater before heading to the lava tunnels, where you can also spot some birds by the lake.
  • After this part of the journey, you will enjoy a tasting of a homemade dessert made with products harvested on the farm before continuing to El Garrapatero Beach.
  • You will end with a descent from the El Cascajo area to a zone of farms where coffee and cocoa are harvested. Return to Puerto Ayora.
  • Activities: 90% cycling and 10% hiking.
